About Us
The Chittenden County Welcoming Committee (CCWC) is a group of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers that has formed to sponsor refugees who want to come to Vermont. The Welcome Corps program is administered by the U.S. State Department. Our group has been approved by the State Department, and we have applied to sponsor three young men in Kenya.
As of January 22, 2025, the U.S. State Department suspended the Welcome Corps program until further notice. We are hopeful that the program will continue, and that we will have the opportunity to welcome new arrivals at the airport, assist in securing housing and employment, assist with initial expenses including rent, utilities, and groceries, help ensure that they receive health care and other benefits, help with transportation to appointments, provide opportunities to learn English, introduce them to their new community and generally offer them support as they forge new lives here in Chittenden County.
Meanwhile, we have partnered with United Immigrant & Refugee Communities of Vermont to support and serve immigrant, refugee, and asylee community members.
